THE RIVERBANK BLOG

A cyclist’s dream pit-stop on the Trans Pennine trail.

Riverbank Coffee has become such a regular destination, that some riders have begun to refer to it as their “Headquarters”!

An already popular cycle route has become even more inviting.

Riverbank Coffee is situated on the banks of the River Mersey and along part of the popular Trans Pennine Trail. This prime location means that it has become a favourite destination for cyclists. From families with toddlers on their first balance bikes to experienced cyclists on much longer routes, this beautiful coffee pitstop in the woods has become popular with all.

According to the official Trans Pennine Trail website, The Trans Pennine Trail (TPT) is an exciting route for walkers, cyclists and horse riders linking the North and Irish seas, passing through the Pennines, alongside rivers and canals and through some of the most historic towns and cities in the North of England.

Part of this trail runs directly past the red gate and floral planters at the entrance of Riverbank Coffee. We provide an enticing rest stop for saddle weary riders or more casual cyclists of all ages.

Steve is a regular visitor and was kind enough to share his love of Riverbank Coffee on Facebook recently.

“Hi I’m Steve, a member of the ‘Grassupthemiddle’ cycling group. The trails along the River Mersey are our group’s escape route from the city; into the Cheshire tundra. When we saw Riverbank Coffee spring to life it was obviously going to be the new meeting place for us all.

The fact that we get a warm welcome on every visit and the coffee is excellent, combined with the homemade cakes made it a regular morning meeting place during lockdown and we’ve just never left! Friendly staff and other regular customers have created a nice little community of cyclists, runners and dog walkers. No matter when you turn up for your coffee you know there’s sure to be someone to chat to. The trouble is actually leaving and the new hot food menu makes just too tempting to stay!

We’ve even started our weekend camping trips from the coffee shop each time bringing new friends and more cyclists to what we now refer to as our ‘headquarters’ the fact that you have to get there under your own steam is a really positive thing and means the cakes are guilt free!

Yet to visit? pop down you won’t regret it and if you’re a keen cyclist follow us #grassupthemiddle and come out on a group cycle.”
